No Superman
is an ongoing project in several parts that seeks to challenge narratives of “normal” transgender bodies and think through the troubles of representing trans identities.  In different ways, each part of this project addresses the place of gender, sexuality, and race, in particular, in the way trans bodies are represented and rendered and how certain trans bodies come to mean more, or differently, than others.

No Superman (please take one) challenges the relationship between transmale bodies and superhero ideals, inviting the viewer to take a wallet-sized portrait of the artist away as a gesture of vulnerability and poltical will. This piece is, in part, a tribute to Felix Gonzalez-Torres and his stack pieces, in which the audience is invited to take a poster, made by the artist and mass produced, from a stack on the floor.
